In a local Texas article earlier this year, it was reported that radiation has contaminated the water tanks, plumbing and undrground pipes that provide drinking water for much of the Central Texas area. According to local officials, the contamination comes from years of exposure to drinking water already testing over federal limits for radioactive radium. An even bigger concern, is that the water testing is done before the water runs through the contaminated pipes, which could be adding even more radiation.
